Do Brad And Angelina Stand A Chance?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, one of the highest profile celebrity couples around, were finally married in France a short while ago, keeping the ceremony very small and very private (as many expected them to).

But do they stand a chance of long-term happiness in the chaotic world of Hollywood romance?

Here at StrongMarriageNow, we can’t help but think that all of the signs point to yes!

Despite rumors over the years of trouble in their relationship, Brad and Angelina have been together for quite some time, building a family and a life together, and now that they’re wed, they’ve got all the ingredients for a healthy, happy married life. Here are a few of the most important:

1. Family

The two stars have six children, three biological and three adopted, and are notorious for their commitment to their wellbeing. Not only does Jolie’s interest in adoption and philanthropy show her dedication to those in her care, but even the couple’s wedding ceremony closely involved the kids!

The children actually wrote the wedding vows, composed of promises they wanted their parents to make to one another, they participated in the wedding party, and their son Pax helped make the cake! Angelina even told People Magazine, “It was such a special day to share with our children…”

Because they were willing to involve the children in such a personal and important moment of their life as a couple, it would only make sense that this close-knit family unit extends into many aspects of their day to day lives. And since they don’t seem to have any shortcomings when it comes to being attracted to, and romantic with one another, this balance of coupledom and parenthood should send them down a path of marital success!

Wedding attendance was also extremely limited for these newlyweds, and the main attendees were members of the two families. With Pitt’s parents and siblings, and Jolie’s brother offering their blessing at the small ceremony, this is a marriage unlikely to cause any rifts or family disapproval.

2. They’re A Little Older

Angelina is 39 and Brad is 50, but getting married at later ages isn’t just for celebs and second marriages – it’s actually becoming more and more common, which might be a good thing!

Some experts say that getting married later in life has numerous benefits. Not only are individuals generally more mature, more financially stable, and more likely to know what they want in the relationship, they also have had more time to get to know themselves – and are therefore less likely to look to their partners for a sense of completion. This idea of two whole people creating a third entity with their marriage is HUGE for couples who may put to much emphasis on their partner as a source of personal happiness.

3. They Waited

Brad and Angelina have been officially engaged since 2012, and have been a couple for much longer – something like nine years! Instead of jumping into marriage like so many of their Hollywood contemporaries, they’ve put it off for some time, showing that they wanted to be sure they could make it work before tying the knot.

Where so many other celebrity romances are short-lived, a two-year engagement is an accomplishment in itself! By not just jumping into marriage, Brad and Angelina have given themselves the time and space to grow into the new phases of their relationship without rushing or biting off more than they could chew.

They both likely learned from their past marriages, and wanted to make sure this one really worked!

The biggest challenge this couple will face through marriage is one they’re likely very familiar with already. As two working actors, the amount of time they will have to spend apart could certainly do damage to the relationship, but hopefully they’ve found ways to cope with this over their years together.

This is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated celebrity weddings in recent history, and we couldn’t be happier for them! We wish Brad and Angelina the best of luck on their journey through wedded bliss!

It is disappointing to see you celebrating this relationship when he left his wife for Angelina after meeting/spending time with her on a movie set.

Hi Standing - I understand where you are coming from, but if we looked down on everyone here who was on their second marriage, we would have a lot less friends. This is where they are now, and we need to support them and wish their happiness, and well as the happiness of their ex's.
