Happy Independence Day!

As you celebrate your freedom on this 4th of July holiday, let’s also take a moment to consider those who have, over the intervening time from the signing of the Declaration of Independence until now, given up their own rights, sometimes even their lives, that we might enjoy the freedoms afforded to us – the members of our military:  Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard. If not for the sacrifices of our military and their families, we would not have freedom of anything. Freedom isn’t free. So as we enjoy our picnic and watch those fireworks, let’s lift a glass to them.

While celebrating those who serve our country, let’s also enjoy our families this holiday. Wherever you decide to go during the holiday that spans July 4, 2012 – the beach or a national park, the city or your local community, enjoy the fun and spirit of Independence Day parades, picnics, and pyrotechnic displays.

With the beer flowing, heat swelling and with fireworks going off all around you, Independence day is a wonderful day to honor the summer by having a fun-filled day of festivities. Discover a new way to celebrate Independence Day with these five romantic and fun ideas.

  1. Enjoy free festivities – including local parades or outdoor concerts
  2. Get to the water – whether the beach, a nearby lake, a pond (even a water balloon fight will do!)
  3. Have a picnic – and enjoy those summer foods…
  4. Go to a baseball game – America’s favorite past time!
  5. Enjoy fireworks – the big finale!

But whatever freedom means to you, you might want to take a moment to thank our Founding Fathers for recognizing, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
